Another Bangkok reunion

20080629 0007 198x300Congratulations once again! Sarah & Mark, and sorry we could not be with you on the 13th June at New Orleans for that very special day. But, this was a real treat - seeing you both here at Bangkok! A few quick photos I was able to get in the evening...

On the streets of Dhaka

A few from an early morning trip down the streets of Dhaka.
Hot tea at a road-side stall ~ garment factory workers going to work ~ Ah, he had an interesting face so we took a few photos. Said that no one ever pays him for taking his pictures. He needs an agent. LOL!

Fishy business

Fishermen - Baridhara Lake, Dhaka cityFishing in the, now polluted, Baridhara/Gulshan lakes - these fishermen continue to make a lively-hood from fish caught here.  The «lakes» are pretty filthy and polluted with all the muck from the city flowing directly into these lakes. At one time, not more than 10 years ago, these «lakes» were connected and further connected to a canal system which probably fed from one of the smaller rivers.  The water would flow.  Now these are stagnant water bodies that overflow during the high monsoon but do not dry out during the dry season.  The large fish, pictured, was later thrown back overboard [dead] because they thought it was no good.  They were after the smaller varieties probably....
