Dhaka – Bangkok by air, Bangkok – Phuket by air, Phuket to Kura Buri via Khao Lak / Phang Na / Takua Pa by car, then from Kuraburi pier to Ko Phra Thong island [9° 7'20.38" N, 98°15'3.47" E] by long-tailed boat, from the island pier to Golden Buddha Beach
by pickup truck across the surprising Savannah [I expected to see a Giraffe or a Kangaroo there anytime!]. What an amazing journey. The sight of tiny islands in the Andaman sea – some of Thailand and some of Burma…. the weather [the weather!] and the storms, the beauty of untouched land, beaches and sea, Â Hornbills flying wild, deep thick tropical forests with vines hanging…. it is difficult to put into words the experience! Spent the days in swim shorts and tee-shirt mostly always wet because we went out in the continuous rain – kayaking into the mangrove, clambering over the jagged rocks and then through thigh deep wet grass rappelling down a rope to the sea on the other side of Horn-bill Hill, across slippery and sharp rocks to the Bay, back to Baan Dee [Dee's house - photo is here] for a hot coffee and some lunch. Off to the Savannah to take in the stark beauty of that landscape…. back to the forest near the bay, finding a clump of wild Glory Lily burning red and orange in the green green lush grass…..
…… ah! I’ll complete a coherent description later….

[For those interested in the nitty gritty stuff - I took just two  lenses on this trip. A ultra-wide 12-24mm Sigma zoom and a 50mm f/1.8 Nikkor prime. Thats it. I used the 50mm for just a few shots.]

One can OD even on stunning landscapes !!! Sorr – a bit of an over kill !! The B&W potraits are my favorite – great compostions and you capture the expressions and the depth of moods really well! Second are the colorful Baan’s – could have done w/ out the photos exposing the innards of the fish. Loved the one w/ the bountiful veggies though!!
I am particularly taken with the repeated curves that ryhyme with each other. Very nicely framed for maximum impact. The combination of all the soft curves and this color palette makes for a peacful place to be in my mind.
[...] This was a very very stormy day with strong wind blowing the rain almost horizontal across the Andaman Sea. The sky would turn black, low clouds would build up, blow across the sea, and then just as [...]
