I had assumed that any in-camera picture-control settings were not saved when shooting in RAW/NEF format. That these settings were lost unless one was shooting in JPG. Not just assumed, but I have many times tried using various settings and found that when I opened the NEFs in PS, the in-camera picture-control adjustments were lost. [...]

The recent release of Adobe Photoshop CS4 and the subsequent update of Adobe Camera Raw v.5 [ACR] is just superb. The processing speed of large NEFs and PSD files is much improved over CS3, many new features added, etc….but one little addition in ACR5 is just best of all – the Graduated Filter option. Bye [...]

Tried many variations while photographing – different angles and focal lengths – needed to get a high contrast image to bring out the detail. Exposed this one by a stop over the meter and it looks good to me in B&W. The color version does not show the detail as much because of the low [...]
