Flameback comes back

September 22nd, 2008

A chance meeting when this Flameback revisited after a long time…. there are a bunch of them who were regular visitors but I’ve not spotted them in a while though I hear them sometimes. Today while waiting for “my” Sunbird to come for his daily portrait session, I heard this Flameback tapping the wood of the tree behind the other window. I was able to get a few nice frames and then it looked at me straight and went on digging for worms in the bark. Meanwhile, the Sunbird was back so I had to leave the Flameback to go get a few pics of buddy…which I will add here later once I’ve downloaded them from the camera. Pic of the Sunbird uploaded.

These Treepies were on the Mahogany tree while we were waiting for the school bus - also a pair of Flamebacks with 2 chicks were on the lower tree trunk. Ran up to grab the camera as soon as Mannat had left on the bus [7:20 AM], went back down to the street to try photograph the Flamebacks first as they usually dont stay too long at one place. They had gone. The Treepies were still on the upper branches so I went back up and was able to lean out of the window to get a few frames before they were off to another tree further away.
