Smita, a lot of Dhaka people asked about you today at the opening evening of Nilu Murshed’s gallery ATHENA. Many also commented that they had seen you and Ujwala (on page 3 in the India papers). Ahem!
Thanks for your appreciation, the red petals on newly dug earth dark and soggy after a storm was a lovely sight that morning.
Looking forward to seeing your new work which you were telling me about.

These sudden, and pretty violent, norwesters begin and end without much warning. Dramatic, they are, for sure. Often the sky goes almost black and the rain comes ‘down’ more horizontal like than vertical!

Smita, your painting of the Sonargaon blue door too was a hit I recall.
Ujwala and Smita, I wonder if I should just be happy [which I actually am] that someone appreciates these pictures and uses them or be upset that no one bothers to ask permission and/or place an appropriate credit where they use them.

[...] While driving down Gulshan road 56 and turning at 55, noticed this nice looking poster advertising a water-color painting exhibition “A Tribute to Panam Nagor” at Khazana restaurant which is owned by the owner of ‘Art Council Dhaka’ as well. A small poster stuck on the glass door of Khazana shows the full picture ….. OK, so a half-blue door is a half blue door but it so happens that this particular image appears to have been taken/lifted from a photo I took at Panam Nagar in Nov 2009. [...]

Witnessing the number of people that had gathered during the first session, and the people arriving for the 2nd, it appears that the number of attendees reported by the media as being in the range of 3 to 4 million is an exaggeration. There were a lot of people, but I would estimate the figure as being much lower. But still, a LOT of people!

The photo opportunities at Tongi yesterday were endless and we could have taken 100s more of these, except that two of us from the group ended up having a small run-in with the strong-arm of the police [called RAB in Bangladesh] and we were asked to break it up and move on. A crowd of people had gathered around us, curious to see their pictures on the camera LCD, on a narrow bridge between the market and the Ijetma camp. I guess we sort of “blocked” the flow of people across the bridge, which instigated the police to ask us to not cause a “gathering”!

BTW, I seem to be having difficulty getting your old and your new blog http://www.anitajesse.blogspot.com/2012/01/eclipse-velvet-darkness.html to load and accept comments. A glitch at Blogspot maybe? Shall try again later….

Anita, yes indeed it comes as quite a surprise when one sees this palace right in the middle of an expanse of water for the first time. It appears that a building has been engulfed in a flood, but it is not so.
Each time I use this battered old 80-200 f2.8 lens which had had several knocks and bangs [non "vibration reduction" version BTW], I am amazed at the detail it can still pull and the accuracy of focus.

I don’t think I have ever read anything negative about this software. I really should come up with the money someday, but I am always stopped by the fact that I don’t do that much black and white and it might not be worth it. Your example is as convincing as anything I have seen. Lovely work. That is typical of you.
