Absolutely right. What an excellent eye you have. Not only for seeing the initial image, but in the choices you make when processing. This exercise was quite enjoyable for me. I enjoyed the peek into your thinking.

Witnessing the number of people that had gathered during the first session, and the people arriving for the 2nd, it appears that the number of attendees reported by the media as being in the range of 3 to 4 million is an exaggeration. There were a lot of people, but I would estimate the figure as being much lower. But still, a LOT of people!

My apologies. I know how frustrating that can be. I just placed a comment at the new site (now deleted) and it seems to be working. Computers and software are quite mysterious to me. They seem to sometimes be in a bad mood and refuse to behave. I hope that is all this is and that you will soon get co-operation from Blogger.

The photo opportunities at Tongi yesterday were endless and we could have taken 100s more of these, except that two of us from the group ended up having a small run-in with the strong-arm of the police [called RAB in Bangladesh] and we were asked to break it up and move on. A crowd of people had gathered around us, curious to see their pictures on the camera LCD, on a narrow bridge between the market and the Ijetma camp. I guess we sort of "blocked" the flow of people across the bridge, which instigated the police to ask us to not cause a "gathering"!

BTW, I seem to be having difficulty getting your old and your new blog http://www.anitajesse.blogspot.com/2012/01/eclipse-velvet-darkness.html to load and accept comments. A glitch at Blogspot maybe? Shall try again later....

This particular religious gathering has been split into two “sessions” this year [so that many more visitors can be accommodated, I understand]; and so a group of us might go back to Tongi this Friday or Saturday as well!

Anita, yes indeed it comes as quite a surprise when one sees this palace right in the middle of an expanse of water for the first time. It appears that a building has been engulfed in a flood, but it is not so.
Each time I use this battered old 80-200 f2.8 lens which had had several knocks and bangs [non "vibration reduction" version BTW], I am amazed at the detail it can still pull and the accuracy of focus.

It is nice to learn something about the history and process behind this pottery. The final picture, showing the work up close, is my favorite. It is a treat to see the detail in this beautiful work.

I don't think I have ever read anything negative about this software. I really should come up with the money someday, but I am always stopped by the fact that I don't do that much black and white and it might not be worth it. Your example is as convincing as anything I have seen. Lovely work. That is typical of you.

This is a wonderful theme and I love the sense of calm that runs through it. You have such a way with these series that you do. They always flow together so beautifully, telling an interesting story.

Expertly rendered it seems to me. Of course you know by now how biased I am toward color, so I would not trade. Still, I deeply admire your skills. The range of tones are stunning.

Thanks Anita.
The skies in Simla were amazing every evening and also mostly during the day there were these beautiful clouds that I admired [without photographing!]. Some of the images I did during the trip convered into very dramatic B&Ws but I did not post them here. Maybe I will add a few sometime later....
I was looking through some older [and these new] B&Ws and since most of the B&Ws I like are related to clouds, mist, fog, sea spray - I was considering a small online Black and White photo book called "What Weather Wherver!" Shall work on it!

PS: Digital post processing is 100% required for these "lovely sky photos" - since I prefer not to use a polarizer or a ND or split ND filter at all - I can "add" a grad ND later in post processing. I double process all RAW/NEF files by opening them first in Nikon Capture NX and the tweaked files saved as TIFF opened in CS5 for final edit and save.
Works just great.

You always do a wonderful job capturing amazing skies and I enjoy your slideshows. I love seeing the lights from the houses below the horizon. This makes this collection unique.

Beautiful fish and your photos show them off quite effectively The sign sounds like our house. We frequently have those notes similar to yours posted at the coffee pot or by a door. They are friendly reminders.

The yellow one became quite excited while I was photographing the fish. Everytime the flash went off, this one would do a sort of "wriggle dance".
