Participated in the Scott Kelby World-Wide Photo-Walk today.... We met at Ahsan Manzil Museum [The Pink Palace] in Old Dhaka near Sadarghat on the banks of the Buriganga, and separated into groups to re-group at 10 AM. Great experience! Met many new people. Will post photos once processed and posted to the Flickr group online.....

9th Birthday. Family tradition: cake in the morning even before breakfast. Mannat is so excited today.... she is 9! We had the usual [super!] home baked cake early in the morning before she went off [skipped and hummed a tune] to school.

Sunbirds, at last

Finally! managed to get a few photos of the Sunbirds [this one is a Female. Purple Rumped - Leptocoma zeylonica ] who keep coming back to this shrub to strip off the dry stringy bark for nest-building....

This should have been a really nice shot! The Shutki / Chutki-traders [Dried fish trader] store was really interesting [and did I mention that it stank to high-heavens? yes I did], the trader had a nice face to photograph, the light was nice but low....Instead of taking my time I shot at high ISO and slow [...]

We brought the tubers of this plant from Bangkok a few months ago... planted it and forgot about it. On our recent return home, it was in bud and beginning to flower. There is another... a yellow one maybe... hope that one flowers too. Photo taken with a Lensbaby.

The first image is Wat Phra Kaew [Temple of the Emerald Buddha] as viewed from the Grand Palace grounds, the 2nd is a building at the Grand Palace. Time to wake and start the day... looked out blury eyed and saw this vivid sunrise reflected in the glass of the building opposite. Grabbed camera and took a few frames. Lovely colors. Red/orange/yellow sunrise colors and a deep deep indigo sky. The colors were gone faded into daylight very fast...
